Rosie Mucharsky Scorches At The Arapahoe Warrior Invite

Rosie Mucharsky brought the fire to an already steamy situation.

Temperatures hovered right around 90-degrees Friday afternoon at the Arapahoe Warrior XC Invitational

In other words: it was another blistering August afternoon on Colorado's front range.

Regardless, Mucharsky wanted more of that heat.

The Denver East senior and defending state champion scorched the final mile to run away with the victory, running 17:52.

The time was the fourth-fastest ever at this meet, and the fifth sub-18-clocking.

Mucharsky picked up where she left off - a year ago she capped her 2023 Colorado cross country with a win at the state championships. Friday she started her 2024 season in similar fashion.

The heat definitely took a toll on the field, which made Mucharsky's sub-18 performance all the more impressive - only three girls cracked 19-minutes on this sweltering afternoon.

Cherry Creek's Emily Cohen was the only one to give chase, and she was rewarded with a runner-up finish, clocking 18:30, while Air Academy's Chamorra Cooper took third in 18:51.

Chaparral took the team title with an impressive 64-points by putting four in the top-eight, while Cherry Creek took second with 98, and Fairview was third with 124.

Like the girl's race, the boy's race was decided in the final mile.

Regis Jesuit's Braeden Focht made a bid for the win early, but it was ThundeRidge's Ben Lee who torched the final mile to come from way back to win this one in 15:40.

Lee's performance was the fourth-fastest time ever at this meet.

Focht held on for a runner-up finish, clocking 15:50, while Denver East's Jonas Scudamore took third in 16:09.

Arapahoe dominated the team race, tallying 59 points, while ThunderRidge took second with 105, and Cherokee Trail was third with 157.
