Key Returners
Peyton Sommers (Cherokee Trail High School): Sommers is the defending 5A Colorado State Champion in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. He also holds the top returning times in all three events: 10.54, 21.13, and 46.59. Before Sommers attends Penn State this fall, we get one more season of the sprint star at Cherokee Trail.
Gery Lockman (Pourde): Lockman finished seventh at last year's Colorado State Championships. He holds a personal record of 48.32 in the 400m. He is definitely someone to watch, as the event is losing several seniors.
Wilkins Persichina (Chaparral)Last year, Wilkins and Peyton Sommers fought to the line at the state meet. Wilkins walked away with a 21.22 PR in the 200m, which makes him the second fastest returner in the event.
Jackson Fagerlin (Resurrection Christian High School): The Montana State commit is the top returner in the 800m and 1600m, also the defending 3A Colorado State Champion in both. He enters the outdoor season with an indoor 1600m personal record of 4:19.71 from the Simplot Games.
Aiden Le Roux (Cheyenne Mountain High School)- He may not be entering the track season as a defending state champion, but Adin Le Roux definitely has a target on his back. He's the 2024 Gatorade XC State Player of the Year and broke the CO indoor state record in the 5000m.
Quinn Sullivan (Niwot): Sullivan was a standout freshman last season who finished third in the 1600m at the 4A state championships. He is the fifth fastest returner in the 800m and the fourth-fastest returner in the 1600m.
Benjamin Anderson (Mountain Vista): The Notre Dame commit has consistently contended for the CO state title since freshman year. He's the top returner in the 3200m and a top ten returner in the 800m and 1600m.
Oliver Horton (Coronado)- Last year, Horton had a fantastic freshman track season, finishing third in the 4A Colorado State Championship 3200m. He carried that momentum into a berth at the Nike Cross Nationals in the winter, positioning him as a strong contender in any race.
Solomon Griffen (Cherokee Trail High School): Griffen ran 14.39 in the 110m hurdles last season, making him the top returner. He also finished third in the 5A Colorado State Championship race.
Teagan Malcom (Longmont High School): Malcom is one of the two only boys to have a top five returning time in the 110m and 300m hurdles. He won state last year in the 300m hurdles in a time of 38.38.
Soren Shinofield (Cherry Creek High School): As we approach 2025 outdoor season, Shinofield is undoubtedly the top shot putter due to his impressive 57-foot throw at the Cherry Creek Invitational. He is also the thrid best discus thrower returning this season.
Jarrius Ward (Overland High School): There's no doubt that Ward had a breakout season in 2024 ranking tenth in the nation for the discus. He threw 203-4 to win the state championship and make him the man to beat.
Matthew Kwong (Northfield High School): The top returning triple jumper, Matthew Kwong, is eager to spring into another fantastic outdoor season. He has already jumped 47-6 indoors this season, placing him in a great position to potentially repeat as a CO state champion.
Troy Sowards (Centauri High School): At the state championship last season, Sowards jumped 6-9 to win the high jump and complete his undefeated season. He now comes into this year as the top returner and is looking to keep his win streak alive.
Aaron Kucinski (ThunderRidge High School): He secured the spot as the top returner by jumping 16-1 in the pole vault last season. He has a big group of seniors chasing him now for the top spot who still haven't got over the 16-foot bar.
