A summary of Colorado results from Day Two of the Simplot Games
The Simplot Games got into full swing on Friday and, with that, came a number of solid performances from the Colorado entries. The meet has not yet released all results from Friday, but from the events for which results have been released, the following are results of note from Colorado competitors:
60 Meter Hurdles - Annie Kunz (9.03) and Kami Mendez (9.07) are lined up in adjacent lanes of heat 2 for the semi-finals of the hurdles.
60 Meter Dash - Marcus Harris, Jr., Nile Carrethers, and Julius Gaines each advance to semi-finals among the boys. Harris posts the second-best time (7.01) in preliminaries. For the girls, MaryBeth Sant is the lone Colorado qualifier for semis, finishing 5th with a time of 7.64
200 Meter Dash - GinAsia Hamilton (25.50) and Christine Scott (25.52) both advance easily to semis. Results are currently unavailable for the boys 200, but we do know that Gus Barnes, Marcus Harris, Jr., Kumar Pinkney, and Andy Kemmer all advanced to the semi-final round.
400 Meter Dash - Kevin Scheuerman (50.17) posts the top time in the preliminaries, and Chris Sterling also advances to semis. Four Colorado girls advance to semis, including GinAsia Hamilton (58.59), Brittany Lewis, Emily Elliot, and Elizabeth Jefferson. Saturday could produce some interesting choices for GinAsia Hamilton as the potential looms for running two 200s and two 400s in the same day.
800 Meter Run - The boys are very well represented with Colorado talent. Alex Paul (2:01.26) goes into finals with the second-best time, but is joined but Jarod Fiorini, Ryan Van Portfliet, Matthew Winfrey, Jimmy Sablan, Will Maher, and Jose Guerrero from Colorado. The girls 800s from Colorado fared nearly as well with Rikki Gonzales (2:20.23 for third in prelims), Vanessa Fabrizio, Miranda Lahman, and Ashley Limes each advancing to finals.
