After a stellar start to her first high school season in cross country, Madison Lange of Cherokee Trail High School is our next feature story in the Future Stars series.
Though she is only in 9th grade, Lange has already raced in some of the most competitive and high profile meets, including the Arapahoe Warrior Invitational, Cherry Creek Steve Lohman Invitational, and the Liberty Bell Invitational. In each of those races, Lange has raised the bar, including a 1st place finish in the freshman/sophomore division at Arapahoe, a 2nd place finish at Cherry Creek running a time of 17:22, and a 4th place finish at Liberty Bell, breaking 17 minutes for the first time, crossing the line at 16:58!
Not only is Lange the fastest freshman in all of Colorado on the course, but she is #4 overall in the state, and the top freshman in the whole nation and #12 overall in the country! Those are some incredibly impressive stats for someone so incredibly young.
Nevertheless, this rise was somewhat expected considering her track record. You can read more about it here, where we did a feature story on Lange over the summer. However, a few highlights include a 2:11 personal best time in the 800m and a 5:04 PR in the indoor mile!
The sky is absolutely the limit for Lange, and we cannot wait so see what she produces later this year and the rest of her career!
