Shiloh Speciner, Lesher Middle School: The top returner in the discus throw is Speciner, who threw 86-9 last season! She also did well in shot put, throwing 31-3, putting her close to the top 5 in that event for returners as well.
Bethany Bernier, Lesher Middle School: From the same school as Speciner, Bernier is the next best returner in discus, where she threw 79-2 last year! She also threw 29-3.75 in the shot put, putting her in a good spot for returners in that event as well.
Meredith Kubat, Preston Middle School: Though she only threw officially in one meet and only in the shot put, Kubat is one of the top returners in the event, making her a name to watch. Kubat threw 33-4.50, making her the 2nd best returner in the event.
Izabella Barraza, La Junta Middle School: The top returner in shot put goes to Barraza, who threw 34-2 last season! She improved by over 4 feet from one meet to the next, showing her potential to continue to keep getting better. She also threw 64-4 in the discus.
Tenley Schmidt, Merino Middle School: Schmidt may have one of the better returning times on the track in some of the long sprints and in middle distance events, including PRs of 1:03 in the 400m and 2:35 in the 800m, but she also has a lot of potential in the pole vault. Last season, she got over the bar at 7-6, which is an incredible starting point for someone in middle school just learning the event!
Julia Purohit, Timnath Middle School: Another impressive mark in the jumps goes to Purohit, who long jumped 15-11 as a 7th grader! She is the top returner for the event, and it will definitely be exciting to see how she can improve through this season.
Hazel Hemphill, McClave Middle School: In the triple jump, Hemphill takes the top returning spot, jumping 32-9 to end her season last year! She also has a personal best of 4-8 for the high jump, which makes her a top returner in that event as well.
Liz Polsgrove, Challenger Middle School: Polsgrove has definitely tried her hand in a lot of events and has found a lot of success in many of them. She comes into this season with a personal best long jump of 14-6, a mark of 32-6 in the triple jump, and jumped 4-7 in high jump! She also ran 13.36 in the 100m and 17.54 in the 100m hurdles.
Maci Smith, Erwin Middle School: Smith is one of the best in both the high jump and long jump coming back this season! She has personal best marks of 4-9 for high jump and 14-6 for long jump! She also ran a time of 31.66 in the 200m hurdles.
Sara Adams, Roosevelt Middle School: The next best returner in high jump is Adams, who made it over the bar at 5-0 - another very impressive mark! She also tried her hand at long jump a couple times, finishing the season with a personal best of 13-2.
