Eaton High School finished 6th overall in Class 3A for the state meet and though on the top end the scores were not very close, after the first two teams, scores were very tight. With a few points left on the table and almost their whole state team line up returning, the girls of Eaton High School may have a shot to sneak onto the podium even if there are a lot of other teams out there looking for their chance on the podium as well.
Starting with Delaney Reuter, who is one of the best distance athletes in Colorado currently. Reuter won the 1600m and placed 3rd overall in the 800m at the state meet last season. She also won the 3200m, but unfortunately cut over too soon and was disqualified. Considering how strong Reuter is from the middle distance events to the distance events, she has the potential to win all three, though the 1600m and the 800m will be a tough challenge. So far this season, Reuter has run 2:15, 4:53, and 10:27 putting her at #1 for all three events in Class 3A! As mentioned before, she will still be challenged, especially in the 800m and 1600m, but she is incredibly competitive, so she is still the name to beat and could produce 30 big points for her team.
In the hurdles, Eaton has Siri Rasmussen, who placed 7th in the 300m hurdles at the state meet, but missed out on the finals in the 100m hurdles. She has run a personal best already in the 100m hurdles of 16.76 and is very close to her PR of 47.41! She is ranked #4 in the 100m hurdles and #11 in the 300m hurdles currently. Considering how much she has already improved in her 100m hurdles and her potential in the 300m hurdles, Rasmussen has a good chance to score even more points for this squad than she did last season. If she makes finals in both events, she could definitely find a way to place well for her team.
For the field events, Madison Brown is sitting in a very good position for the triple jump. She is ranked #2 in Class 3A with a mark of 35-6, which is almost a two foot PR from last year! She was unable to make finals last season at the state meet, so she has the potential to score points that she wasn't able to do in 2025. She is also ranked in the 400m, running 59.89 - another personal best for Brown! She is ranked 8th currently and though she will need to improve to ensure she makes finals, she could score some points for her team in another area that she did not last season. Finally, she is ranked #10 in long jump with a mark of 15-11.25.
Speaking of long jump, Zoey Hall is ranked #4 for Class 3A with a jump of 16-7.5 - almost a two foot PR from when she first did the long jump earlier in the season! This is only Hall's second time ever long jumping in high school, so she could definitely be a game changer for Eaton High School when it comes to picking up the extra points. She also could help immensely with the relays or maybe even other jumping events if she tries some of those out. Either way, Hall already is showing she can make a difference for this team.
Finally, the throwing events will be another area where this squad will pick up a lot of points. The top two throwers in the shot put for Class 3A is Jayda Warehime and Isabella Ramsey with Warehime throwing 38-10.5 and Ramsey throwing 38-5.25! These two clearly both have the potential to pick up some big points for the team in shot put. Warehime finished 2nd overall at the state meet in the event, so she will look to try and better that to earn 10 points for her team.
Warehime has also hit a new personal best in the discus throwing 114-9 which does rank her #4 for Class 3A. She did not make finals last year in the event, so this is another area where Eaton could capitalize on some points if she can make it to finals this season. For Ramsey, she finished 3rd overall at the state meet in the shot put, so she is almost following in suit with her teammate, and it could be a 1-2 finish for these two. She is also ranked #8 in discus, where she has thrown 110-11. Though she did not compete in the event at the state meet, she could make it to finals this season, helping bring in points in another area for the team!
Though Eaton High School is relying on some big performances from a few names, if all of those performances go right, then they do have a strong chance to jump on that podium and celebrate with a team trophy!
