Class 4A may be one of the best classes on the boys side this season for track, with many of the best marks in almost all the events coming from athletes in the classification! Check out some of the best names so far this season!
Gavin Reddick, Canon City High School: Reddick had an incredible result at the Huskie Twilight, winning the 100m in a new personal best time of 10.57 which is ranked #1 in Class 4A and is ranked within the top 10 in all of Colorado! He also has the fastest wind-legal time in the 200m of 21.71, and he is the returning champ in the 100m from the state meet, which he is backing up with his times so far this season.
Carter Sola, Lutheran High School: Sola won the 400m and last year's state meet, and he currently holds the #3 time in the 400m in Class 4A with a time of 48.37, which is only a little bit off of his personal best of 48.12! He is also #2 in the 200m for wind-legal marks with a personal best time of 21.75.
Zaccary Southern, Wheat Ridge High School: Though Southern has not raced in a while, he is #1 in the 400m for Class 4A, running an impressive time of 47.85! He also has personal best times of 10.66 and 21.74 in the 200m, plus a wind-aided 21.61 for the half lap race. Southern is #2 in the 100m and the 200m for his wind-legal marks, making him dangerous in all three sprint events!
Oliver Horton, Coronado High School: Horton broke many records during the fall cross country season and came very close to breaking another state record in the 3200m. Horton currently holds the top time in the state of Colorado, running 8:56 and ran 8:38 at the Arcadia Invitational, ranking him #3 in the whole nation! He has yet to run a 1600m, but he has the chance to improve immensely in that event as well.
Jay McDonald, Summit High School: McDonald has a very good range in terms of his personal bests from this season, running times of 1:51 in the 800m, 4:14 in the 1600m, and 9:00 in the 3200m on Colorado soil. He has the top time in the 800m for the whole state of Colorado, ranked #6 in Class 4A for the 1600m, and #4 in the 3200m for Class 4A. He also ran 8:45 at the Arcadia Invitational, ranking him within the top 15 in the the nation!
Rocco Culpepper, Niwot High School: Culpepper has the fastest time for the state of Colorado in the 1600m, running 4:09 for the race! He also ran 1:50 and 4:05 for the one mile run at the Oregon Relays, ranking him well within the nation. He is currently ranked #5 for the mile and #13 for the 800m for the whole country!
Owen Hays, Roosevelt High School: Just like other names on this list, Hays is one of the best hurdlers not just in Class 4A, but in all of Colorado! He has the 2nd fastest time in the 110m hurdles for the state, running a time of 13.71, and he has the fastest time in the 300m hurdles with a new Colorado state record time of 36.14! On top of those rankings, Hays is ranked in the top 10 for Class 4A in the 100, 200, and 400m.
Jonah Beck, Severance High School: Most recently, Beck jumped a new personal best mark of 24-3.5 to earn the #2 spot in the whole state of Colorado and the top spot in Class 4A! He has consistently hit over 22 feet for the long jump, but had a big breakthrough this past weekend getting past 24 feet!
Quinn Pascual, Discovery Canyon High School: Pascual is one of the best pole vaulters in the state currently, getting over the bar at 16-7! On top of his impressive pole vault performances, he also has personal best marks of 22-3.5 in the long jump, 10.80 for the 100m, and 22.56 for the 200m, which ranks him in the top 8 for Class 4A in both the long jump and the 100m!
Isaac Baca, Grand Junction High School: Baca improved his personal best in the discus this past weekend throwing 184-3! He has been the top discus thrower in the state of Colorado all season and has consistently thrown over 170 feet. He also has a personal best throw of 57-6.25 in the shot put ranking him #2 in the state of Colorado.
Owen Twesme, Palmer Ridge High School: Twesme is the first name to throw over 60 feet this season in the shot put, hitting a mark of 60-8 this past week! He has been consistently at the top of the Colorado rankings all season, and he also has a personal best throw of 167-11 in the discus, which is #3 in the state!
Quinn Sullivan, Niwot High School: Sullivan has a lot of range in the distance events, with huge PRs of 1:51 in the 800m, 4:12 for the 1600m, and 8:58 for the 3200m! In terms of his sea level races, he has run 4:05 for the full mile and 8:41 in the 3200m at the Arcadia Invitational! His mile time is ranked #6 in the nation, and he is ranked #8 in the 3200m.
