Colorado Makes Solid Showing at GSWI

It was a very nice evening in the Duke City for the Colorado athletes who made the trip down to compete in the Great Southwest Indoor meet. Although their numbers were small, their impact was substantial.

Leading the way with meet titles for the Colorado contingent were:

1. Allie Parks, winning the 3200 by nearly a full 30 seconds in 12:14.32

2. Keifer Johnson made it two-for-two in the boys' 3200 with a time of 10:08.52

3. Chris Ganem dominated the boys' mile with a 4:21.67 (Keifer Johnson was third in 4:34.98)

4. Trey Richardson won the triple jump with a leap of 14.53 meters (47-8)

Also earning high places were the following:

1. Trey Richardson, second in the 60 meters at 7.15

2. MaryBeth Sant, also with a second in the 60 meters at 7.60

3. Addy Neibauer, fifth in the pole vault at 9-0

4. Austin Gunnarson, fifth in the 400 at 53.09

5. Danielle Williams, second in the triple jump at 37-8.75

Although I don't quite understand how this worked out, Austin Gunnarson also ran a race in the age group division, finishing second in the Intermediate 800 at 2:03.42.

Also from the age group results, Ty Williams of Norwood/Telluride won the Young Men's 1500 and 3000 with times of 4:29.73 and 9:29.00, respectively. It appears those times were for largely solo efforts. Lacey Peinado of Bayfield finished third in the Young Women's 400 with a time of 1:06.39.
