DJ Ruff, Fort Collins High School: Ruff had a huge weekend this past week, running a state-leading time of 20.92 in the 200m! He is the first one in Colorado to break 21 seconds this season in the event. He also is a big part of Fort Collins High School's relay teams, who are leading the state in the 4x100m and the 4x200m relays. Finally, Ruff has a legal personal best mark of 10.52 in the 100m, ranking him #3 in Class 5A.
Brandon Veasley Jr., Cherry Creek High School: Though he is only a sophomore, Veasley Jr. has the top time in all of Colorado for the 100m running a time of 10.40! He has consistently run around the mid-10 second range, making him a favorite to finish high on the podium. He also has a wind-aided PR in the 200m of 21.60, showing his potential in that event as well.
Micah Sheehan, Northfield High School: As a sophomore last season, Sheehan was one of the best 400m runners in the state, and he is continuing to back that up going into this season with a personal best time of 47.66! He has the top time in the event for the whole state of Colorado and has also run 1:55 in the 800m, helping the team to strong times in both the 4x400m and the 4x800m relay.
Ben Lee, ThunderRidge High School: Lee won the individual state titles in both the 800m and the 1600m last season in some of the most competitive races in the whole state of Colorado. So far this season, Lee has the top time in the 800m for Class 5A, running a time of 1:52! He has also run 4:12 multiple times in the 1600m and 8:47 for the 3200m at the Arcadia Invitational, making him very versatile in the middle and longer distances.
Cadel Ruthven, Fort Collins High School: Ruthven has been one of the most dominant distance runners on the track for the state of Colorado this season! Besides his strong personal best times of 4:10 in the 1600m (at altitude) and 1:53 in the 800m, Ruthven has some of the biggest victories this season. First, he won the invitational section of the mile at Arcadia running 4:07! Then he won the 1600m at Stutler Twilight, beating some of the top distance runners, including other names on this list.
Benjamin Adams, Mountain Vista High School: Though Adams may not have as many flashy results as some other names on this list, he has been very consistent throughout the season running some very impressive times, making him one of the names to look out for in the distance events. So far this season, he has run 4:10 for the 1600m and 8:57 for the 3200m, which ranks him #2 in Class 5A for the 1600m and #1 in the 3200m.
Jackson Conroy, Loveland High School: Conroy has been incredibly consistent this season, running under 14 seconds in the 110m hurdles pretty much all season! He hast the fastest time in the 110m hurdles for all of Colorado and has a wind-aided PR of 13.40 but also a legal personal best mark of 13.54. He is the defending state champion in the event, so he is the one to beat!
Elian Oliva, Northfield High School: Oliva is also ranked very well in both hurdle events! He is ranked #1 in the 300m hurdles with a time of 37.11 and ranked #4 in the 110m hurdles running 14.31! On top of his strength in the hurdles, he has run 21.81 in the 200m and 47.84 in the 400m, where his 400m time is #2 for Class 5A. Finally, he is also ranked #2 in the triple jump for the state of Colorado, jumping 47-3.
Cameron Bell, Eaglecrest High School: The top long jumper all season has been Bell, who has jumped over 24 feet multiple times this season, with a personal best jump of 24-8.25! He also has been very successful in the hurdle events with personal best marks in the 110m hurdles of 14.36 with a wind-aided time of 13.85 and also 37.44 in the 300m hurdles. He is #5 in the 110m hurdles and #2 in Class 5A for the 300m hurdles.
Gage Pieper, Golden High School: Pieper holds the top spot in the pole vault for Class 5A, getting over the bar at 16-0! He is also ranked #3 in the whole state of Colorado, making him a name to watch in the event. He finished 5th overall last year at the state meet, and he has already improved his personal best by almost two feet!
Ashton Daly, Loveland High School: Currently, Daly is the top thrower in shot put for Class 5A by almost five feet! He has a personal best mark of 55-11.75, which also ranks him #3 in the whole state of Colorado. On top of his strong mark in shot put, he has also thrown the discus 174-4, which is #1 for Class 5A and ranks him #2 in the whole state of Colorado.
Bryson States, Eaglecrest High School: States has been at the top of the rankings in triple jump for the whole state pretty much the whole season. He has a personal best mark of 47-8! On top of his strong mark in the triple jump, he has personal best marks of 10.83 in the 100m, 22.05 in the 200m, and 22-9.25 in the long jump.
Prince David Ajibade, Cherokee Trail High School: The top high jumper in Class 5A is Ajibade, who has a PR of 6-6! He has consistently hit that mark or around that mark all season, making him a favorite to win the state title for Class 5A. He also has marks of 22-1.75 in the long jump and 41-10 in the triple jump.
