1A: What Marks Made it to State?

Ashley Atkin's speed may or may not have been the reason, but the girls 200 was the popular event to scratch in 1A when it came time to declare for state. Photo by Alan Versaw.

As promised, I'm posting some brief analysis of what marks made the state cut this year, what marks got in after scratches, and how many scratches were made in each event.

I should note that I seem to be missing one or two rankings meets from the 1A realm--or perhaps I didn't get complete enough results from some meets than involved larger schools and thus 1A qualifying marks were omitted in the MileSplit rankings. I did some extra work to resolve those issues, but was not able to finally resolve all of them (most particularly the girls 3200).

With that as a disclaimer, the first column shows what it took to make the initial cut for state (top 9 for laned events, top 10 for field events, and top 12 for unlaned track events), the second column was the cutoff point for those who actually competed in the state meet, and the third column represents the number of scratches in that event this spring for the 1A classification.
