Legend High School Boys Sweep Denver East Angel Invitational

The Legend High School boys dominated both the JV and varsity races at this weekend's Denver East Angel Invitational. The varsity squad cruised to victory by a commanding 90-point margin over Denver East, while the Legend JV team delivered an equally impressive performance, winning with just 15 points.

After missing the Dave Sanders Invitational due to weather cancellation, the Legend boys hit training hard the week leading up to the Angel Invitational, according to head boys coach, JL Hines.

In the varsity races, the boys kept to their team pack for the first mile, and then took the race out from there. "It was encouraging to see them control the race and take the top four spots," commented Coach Hines.

While Legend's upperclassmen varsity boys took the top four spots in a strong pack, their up and coming JV and underclassmen boys showed out as well, suggesting a strong team depth in seasons and years to come.

Legend Freshman, Benji Gaal had a notable performance this past weekend placing ninth in a top-10 pack of upperclassmen in the varsity race, Legend's number five boy overall. In the JV race, the boys took the top eight places as well as 10th - 12th place.

In just a few weeks, we'll see the competitive Colorado 5A Region 1 race return to the City Park Cross Country Course on October 23rd where Legend will battle it out again.

After the Denver East Invite this past weekend, the boys will be ready according to Coach Hines, "it was a good opportunity to view our regional course before we race there in three weeks—it's a true cross country course that is deceptively challenging, especially if you aren't ready for it."
