Slow Week Behind Us, Busy Week Ahead

Two state championship meets headline Saturday's agenda. Free content.

One big storm hitting the Denver metro area wiped out a good bit of track and field action on Saturday.

So, the USATF-Colorado Indoor State Championship meet has been moved to Saturday, February 11, effetively knocking the third All-Comers meet previously scheduled for that date off the schedule for this winter. Balch Field House in Boulder will be hosting all the action.

Up near Frisco, and also on Saturday, the high school state snowshoe championships will be taking place at Summit High School. There's plenty of snow on the ground, even if the mountains were mostly missed by the big storm hitting the Front Range on Friday, so the racing should be good. Assuming I can get up to Summit High School on Saturday, Colorado Track XC will be covering this one. I'll try to get a preview of the list of high school entries posted sometime later in the week so that you all will know who you're looking for on the course. Several of these athletes will be qualifying for spots at the national snowshoe championships two weeks later on the same course.

Meanwhile, there's a bit of a backlog of articles building. One article to take note of is the article detailing a new FloTrack/MileSplit initiative entitled FloCoach. That article should be up about the same time as this one. I encourage you to take a look and see if you aren't intrigued by what you find there.

Later in the week, we'll do a couple more installments of profiling many of our athletes signing National Letters of Intent to compete next year in college.

With the indoor season winding down to the championship level events, it's time to start focusing a little more on the CHSAA outdoor season coming up. In a little over a month, high school outdoor meets will be taking place all across the state. With the start of that season in view, you should soon start seeing a series of several preveiw articles.

This year's preview articles will focus on event areas (boys sprints, girls distance, girls throws, boys jumps, etc.) across all classifications. Look for the first of those to appear late this week or early next. The rest to follow at regular intervals through the remainder of the month.

Finally, for coaches and meet directors, I'll be posting a series of articles on using the Colorado Track XC site for online registration and meet management. While this series will have no appeal outside of the world of coaches, it will serve to get the word out with respect to directions for making the entire online registration process run as smoothly as possible.
