As she did all last spring, Jennifer Celis quickly left the 800 field in her wake. Photo by David Pressgrove.

DELTA - There were a lot of familiar things here for Cedaredge’s Sierra Williams on Saturday. She had her same pink shoes and she had her same sizeable leads while winning the 100-meter (12.52, a new meet record) and 200-meter dashes (25.34). But there was one new aspect for Williams. Her senior season she is running as a future Florida State Seminole.

Williams indicated she decided on Florida State a couple of weeks before the Feb. 1 signing date, with her choice coming down between FSU and Colorado State. The 3A state champion in the 100 and runner-up in the 200 also helped her 400 (51.33) and 800-meter (1:46.78) relay teams win.

Williams will take her talents to her future state this upcoming weekend. She is going to go to the Florida State Relays, which are hosted in Tallahassee.

Sierra wasn’t the only “Williams”...
