As much as I'm not ready to start doing this, the time to start examining how the various classifications are shaping up has arrived. So, as I've told an athlete or two in my day, "Once the race starts, you won't remember whether you felt ready at the starting line." In my case, once I start writing, it's going to feel like I've prepared a month for this piece. At least that's the hope; it seems to work out for my distance runners.
