Craig – Welcome to northwest Colorado in the spring. After a week of nearly perfect spring track weather, the wind and cold rolled in, uninvited, on Friday for the Clint Wells Invitational.

There were very few results that turned out to be personal bests, but with winds up to 40 mph and temperatures no warmer than 50, that wasn’t to be expected.
 
The 12-team meet had potential for some showdowns and competition with Glenwood Springs, Fruita Monument, Eagle Valley, Coal Ridge and host school Moffat County bringing up some of the Western Slope’s top athletes in several events. While there were some exciting finishes, it was rare that the time was an improvement from previous bests.
