Judging by the smile on Markesh Woodson's face following the finals of the Doherty Spartan Invitational 100 meter dash, it was a good feeling to be back.
And it should have been a good feeling. Woodson anchored a winning relay, won the 100 in 10.79 (+0.5), and won the 200 in 22.34 (-1.7). Those aren't world-beating times yet, but the lightning is back on the track.
Woodson's 100 time puts him at sixth spot in the 5A rankings and his 200 time puts him at #16. It looks like a fair bet that Woodson will be running both events at state. If you happen to be in the state field in either event, you're hoping you don't end up in Woodson's heat in prelims as Woodson is likely on a pretty steep curve of improvement at the moment and likely to outperform his seed at state.
With Woodson back and at least partially unleased, Fountain-Fort Carson got a little bit...
