As the fortunes of the Arvada West cross country team have risen over the last few years, so also has the size and quality of their meet. This year's field hovered in the vicinity of 20 teams. Those teams came from as near as Arvada and as far as Grand Junction to compete on a glorious Friday afternoon. And the racing got underway early.

An early start, by cross country standards, and a lead guy named Cerake Geberkidane meant that some people were still figuring out the route of the course when the winner of the boys varsity race was flying across the final patch of grass to the finish line. As he has done all season long, Geberkidane put away the field, this time in 15:49.
