On a day better suited to hoodies and blue jeans, the singlet-and-shorts crowd still had a very nice day. While it may have been chilly on the start line, things heated up nicely on the course, first for the girls and then later for the boys.

A pack of several girls led most of the first circuit around Bear Creek Park more or less as a unit. It was an impressive pack, composed of such notables from around the state as Amber Scott, Aubrey Till, Megan Mooney, Lauren Hamilton, Arianna Ross, Emily Bryant, and Lina Arista. While Deitsch maintained a half-step lead for most of the first mile, all seemed content with the arrangement.
