If you've been patiently waiting to put your track spikes to use, this Saturday is your opportunity.
Balch Field House in Boulder is the place. Track events start at 8:30 AM, and field events a half hour later at 9 AM. The slate of events is non-standard, to include 300 meters, 600 meters, and 1000 meters, but not 400 or 800 meters. Entries close tomorrow (Thursday) at 8 PM MST.
The morning session will be devoted to mostly athletes below high school age, while high school age athletes, open, and masters athletes are scheduled for the afternoon. A complete schedule of events may be found at:
Next weekend, there will be a choice of two meets, at least for the high school crowd. The USATF-Colorado group will be hosting at Balch Field House again, while the Colorado School of Mines will be hosting a high school only meet on Saturday/Sunday in Steinhauer Field House in Golden. It's also rumored to be true, though, that a few of Colorado's top competitors will be deep down in the heart of Texas next weekend for the Carl Lewis Invitational.
Indoor season is officially upon us!
