Annual Time Trial Race sets Varsity Squad as Eagle Cross Country Teams Open 2015 Season (via Alpharetta-Milton, Georgia Patch)

Led by the Eagles of Milton, Georgia squads captured all the team titles and many top-10 individual awards at the Furman University Golf Course at the 42nd rendition of this meet.  Conditions were very humid but the course was well-groomed and included a log to jump on each of the three loops that make-up this iconic venue.

Tyler Barber's mammoth performance at the Gwinnett County Championship earns him All-Class 'Runner of the Week' Other Class 'ROWs' were Jack Bluth from Milton, Jonathan Pelham from Lagrange, Stephen Martinez of St.Pius X, Brian Vincent from Pepperell and 2 freshmen from the 'Small School' classes: Jack Douglass of Pace Academy, and Griffin McCauley of Paideia who finished just ahead of Douglass at Coach Daley.  

The 2014 edition of the Fulton County Public Schools Championships for high school cross country teams was once again held at Milton High School and the highlights included a big new course record & a school winning 3 of the 4 team titles and the Overall Title that were awarded. For the 4th consecutive year, Milton High School will play host to the Fulton County Public Schools Cross Country Championships this Saturday, September 20th on one of the toughest courses in the state of Georgia.

Milton travelled to the Roanoke Valley of Virginia competing at the 11th Annual Knights Crossing Invitational hosted by Cave Spring High School competing against some regional and nationally-ranked teams from North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia & West Virginia in very damp but cool conditions

Warmer temperatures offset any potential time gains on the new course layout at Covered Bridge, but some runners and teams seemed undeterred as a new course record was set in the girls’ race. Over 1400 runners competed in 6 races, with the varsity races and the middle school races all having a few individuals turning in outstanding performances as they considerably outran the field.

On an incredibly hot and humid day of racing at Roper Park, teams came out to scorch the competition. Milton Boys proved they are ready for the big show this year, having 5 in the top 7 made the race an easy win with 22 points. On the girls side, it was a race between two teams, Heritage Catoosa and Milton. In the end Heritage Catoosa proved stronger and made a last mile push to win by 16.  

Teams from around the state will start their season off up in Jasper at Roper Park this Saturday for the Pickens Preview. A total of 21 high schools and 11 middle school teams, bringing over 1000 runners to compete will make this one of the biggest races of the weekend! The course is very interesting as runners will get to run through a tunnel that runs underneath the road on the way to some trails, then back again to the park and the finish. The day starts off with both middle school races, followed by the Varsity high school races then JV.
