ATLANTA – October 16, 2014 – Founded 50 years ago around the mission of honoring outstanding high school cross country and track & field athletes, Atlanta Track Club, is making enhancements to the All-Metro High School Cross Country Banquet as well as its awards selection process. As the organization moves into its next 50 years, it is recommitting itself to honoring the metro area’s top high school standouts in an exciting, new way.

Georgia now has a professional Track and Field team! We wanted to update you on a project that has been many years in the making: the Georgia Track Club.We want Georgia to know that we now have a Pro track team for them to cheer for and follow. New professional Track team features 8 Olympic medalists and other elite Georgia athletes including Terrance Trammell, Angelo Taylor, Chaunte Lowe, Deedee Trotter, Reese Hoffa, Aries Merritt, Christian Taylor and Jarryd Wallace.

 

Atlanta, GA, May 12, 2014 — The American Track League is headed to Atlanta as it’s third stop of an eight meet series stretching from May through August. The meet in Atlanta will be held on May 16th at 7:00pm at Greater Atlanta Christian School,1575 Indian Trail Lilburn Rd, Norcross, GA 30093. Admission to the meet is free of charge

SPOKANE, Wash. – The GRU Augusta Men’s Cross Country team finished 31st at the NCAA Championships Saturday afternoon in a 10K race at Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex. The Jaguars represented Georgia Regents University for the first time at a championship event.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta Men’s Cross Country seniors Jaiden Brandt and Dustin Ross and sophomore Preston Jones were named All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the NCAA regional championship meet on Nov. 9.

Jaiden Brandt takes second overall to pace GRU and ensure a Nationals berth. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – GRU Augusta sent both teams to the NCAA Southeast Regionals at McAlpine Creek Park where senior Jaiden Brandt placed second to lead the No. 2 Jaguars to third overall and give them a berth to the NCAA Nationals, while the women took 15th in Charlotte, N.C.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta men’s cross country program tied for first place with Columbus State in the Peach Belt Conference Championships, while the Jaguar women placed sixth Saturday morning in Americus, Ga., on the campus of Georgia Southwestern at the Southland Academy Course.

Andrew Wheating will be onsite at the Nike/Fleet Feet Coach Wood Classic as the featured Awards Ceremony presenter . In the article attached is a bio on Andrew. Running a head taller than most of his competitors, Andrew Wheating has become a fan favorite in the 800m and 1,500m competing for the Oregon Track Club Elite. Primarily an 800m runner in college, Wheating bumped up to the 1,500m and in 2010 ran a 3:30.90 in Monaco

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguar Men’s and Women’s Cross Country programs head to McApline Park for the 8th annual Charlotte Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28 for a men’s 8K and women’s 6K.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta Cross Country programs will host their first meet of the 2013 season, the Jaguar Invitational, this Friday, Sept. 20 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., for a men’s 8K at 5:30 p.m. and a women’s 6K at 6:15 p.m. Fans and spectators are encouraged to arrive early because part of the entrance will be closed off after runners have arrived. For the runner’s safety, the section of the course that crosses the road near the soccer fields will be blocked off - preventing spectators from parking for several minutes.

The WCC released their preseason polls, and the BYU Men's XC team  is the favorite in the conference.

Henry Dwyer's HS career is highlighted by being named Gatorade's Georgia Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year 2012-2013.  Dwyer had a phenomenol senior season after suffering a heartbreaking disapointment in the 2012 GA Olympics falling ill and unable to compete in the 800m A Finals.  He led the Spartans to the State Boys Cross Country title in the Fall and got some sweet redemption at the 2013 GA Olympics sweeping  the A Private 1600 and 800 and won the Top Performance Award in the 1600 clocking a 4:10.84. 2 weeks later he made the trip down to Golden South and placed 2nd in the Mile with a converted 4:10.46. Dwyer maintained a 3.71  GPA in the classroom and was awarded a scholarship to UGA in Cross Country and Track and Field.

Florida State indoor track & field assistant coaches Ken Harnden and Karen Harvey have been recognized as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA South Region assistant coaches of the year. The announcement was made Monday as the Seminoles prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships meet, March 8-9 at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark. This marks the fourth time that both Harnden and Harvey have been selected as top assistants for the region.
