Meet Information

THE RUNNERS ROOST INVITATIONAL IS STILL TAKING PLACE!!

YOUR TEAM IS INVITED TO THE

29th ANNUAL RUNNERS ROOST INVITATIONAL!

#2 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1

USATF-sanctioned events

MIDDLE SCHOOLS ONLY

Addenbrooke Park, 600 South Kipling Parkway, Lakewood. Yes, there WILL be trails, dirt, grass, mud, and water jumps!

Enter the park from either Kipling or Garrison Streets. For runners arriving individually, there is a dropoff/pick-up area on either side.

Each team may run up to 20 boys and 20 girls. We are limited by park limits, not Covid, but will change these numbers if feasible.

Check-in will be at the pavilion by the lake in the middle of the park. Team camps may setup in any grass area that doesnt impede the course (theres a ton of space). In order to go green, please print as many copies of the course maps as you need. We will only provide one or two course maps per team. The course map will be sent in a future e-mail.

Covid-19 precautions TBD by City of Lakewood and local health regulations at the time.

We request that each team provide one volunteer to assist. We will need a couple of course marshals, and someone to operate the timer, and another to hand out finisher bags.

The middle school course is 4K. Runners will follow ORANGE flags. Flags are usually on the runners right.

There are no assigned boxes. Simply find a box on the starting line.

Please make sure we have received your entry fee check for $125 made payable to Colorado Rage if your school has not sent it earlier.

There are porta-potties in the parking lots. It is up to City of Lakewood whether they will have their bathrooms in the pavilion open or not.

Please ask your team to pick up their trash.

PLEASE tell your athletes that the inflatable creek critters are not to be taken home with them as souvenirs! Yes, it has happened!

It would be a good idea to remind your runners to tightly lace and knot their shoes. Some fishing expeditions in previous years looking for lost shoes took as long as 15 minutes!

We will have a first-aid kit and ice packs, but there will not be on-site EMS services.

Team composition and race format

Middle school teams may have up to 20 runners of each gender.

Please notify me if you have a smaller team so if possible we can shoehorn in additional runners from other teams to get up to the maximum limits.

SCHEDULE

3:10 P.M. COACHES MEETING AT THE PAVILION BY THE LAKE

3:30 P.M. MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS 4:10 P.M. MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS

Manual finish line and scoring. No pre-registration on Milesplit or elsewhere is needed. You dont need to send me any names. As each runner leaves the finish chute, he or she will receive a bag that includes a finisher ribbon, a packaged snack courtesy of Runners Roost, and a place card.

Write the name of the runner on their card (please do this yourself, coaches!), place it in the provided scoring envelope, and return to me.

The top four finishers will be used for scoring; in case of ties, fifth-place finishers will be used.

Thanks very much to Runners Roost for once again sponsoring this event! Snacks have been provided by Runners Roost at Alameda and Wadsworth. Stop in for all of your running gear needs. All school runners and coaches receive a 15% discount on purchases!
