Meet Information

Fruita Monument High School would like to invite you to the Anna Banana Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30, starting at 2 p.m. at Snooks Bottom Open Space in Fruita, Colo.

The race will include varsity and junior varsity races for high school boys and girls. The top ten finishers in each varsity race will receive medals. The top ten finishers in each junior varsity race will receive ribbons. A limited number of souvenir Anna Banana t-shirts will be for sale.

FMHS Cross Country each year holds the Anna Banana race in memory of former Fruita Monument student Anna Lee Anna Banana Janowitz, who died in a car accident on her way to cross country practice on Aug. 16, 2002. Anna was a much-loved student and athlete, about to start her senior year. Annas death caused shockwaves amongst her teammates and classmates, who described Anna as a disciplined runner, known for her cheerful attitude. This fall marks the 20th anniversary of her death. 

This year's meet schedule:

1-1:30 p.m. - Check-in

2 p.m. - Varsity and JV girls (unlimited entries)

2:30 p.m. - Varsity and JV boys (unlimited entries)

3 p.m. - Awards

Cost is $150/school, which covers both boys and girls teams in each division.
