HUSKY CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL

Friday, August 28, 2026

Coaches and ADs,

Platte Canyon High School will again be hosting the Husky Invite at Tomahawk Ranch, Girl Scout Camp of the Rockies.  The meet will feature an open boys, girls High School Races and an open boys and girls middle school races.  Tomahawk Ranch is located in Bailey, CO off of Hwy 285,  approximately 45 minutes west of Denver.

For Front Range Schools, this meet is a perfect chance to have a fun mountain adventure before the more competitive races in  September and October.   For Mountain schools this is a great chance to race with your neighbors.

While all schools and clubs are welcome, the meet is ideal for smaller 3A, 2A and 1A High Schools and Middle Schools.  Smaller schools with less than seven runners can pay $20 per athlete

Much like the State meet, the races will start outside the horse pavilion and end inside the pavilion.  The course is mostly two track roads with some trails with only moderate elevation gains. This year we will be using Timberline Events as our timing service for rapid and accurate results.

Hope to see you there,

Mike Demko

Cross Country Coach, Platte Canyon High School

Directions:

The course is located at the beautiful Tomahawk Ranch in Bailey, Co. Coming from Denver, take Hwy 285 South, turn right onto Co Rd 43 at the Loaf and Jug/stoplight. Drive 2 miles and after passing Deer Creek Elementary School you will turn left onto the property.

2113 Co Rd 43.

The course is the same as last years and consists of dirt roads and trails that meander through picturesque valleys and mountain terrain; a nice change from the flat Front Range courses.  The high school race is a 5k and the middle school race is a 3k. The race will start at the equestrian Center and finish inside the pavilion (just like the State Meet at Norris Penrose)

The meet schedule is as follows:

 1:30 Middle School Boys race

 2:10 Middle School Girls race

 2:55 High School Boys

 3:40 High School Girls

5:00 Community Fun Run!  All are welcome to compete in the community run!

Unlimited entries in all races.  Awards will be given to the 1st-place team in each race, the top 5 runners will be scored.  The top 10 individuals in each division will receive awards.

The cost of the meet is $150 per high school and $100 per middle school

Teams with less than 7 runners can pay $20 per runner

Post race there will be a Community Fun Run.  The run is free but Donations Will Support the Husky XC Programs!
