2016 Thornton Invitational: Wyoming Hauls Hardware Back Over the Border

Top Moment of the Meet (3)

Wyoming makes its presence felt.

Teams from the great mostly empty rectangle to the north have been making it regular practice for years to send strong teams across the southern border to tangle with the best of the best in Colorado. Laramie boys sent all but three Colorado teams packing. Starting with Philip Henry in 6th place, the Plainsmen rolled. Placing three in the top 20 in a meet with 42 teams will force people to take notice.

In the girls race, Wyomingites were even more dominant. Aubrey Frentheway from Cheyenne Central dropped the field before the first mile was complete and went on to win in 18:33. Her teammate Claudia Miller showed up next in 18:42. Laramie's Abigail Whitman finished in 6th at 19:07. Laramie's team score of 107 just missed second place Fairview by two points. Cheyenne Central was 5th with 133 points.
