2017 Broomfield Shootout: A Day Late, But Still a Great Meet

Standout Girls

There are not many meets where Arria Minor is not the prohibitive favorite in every event she enters. Minor and Michaela Onyewere from Grandview put on a show in the 100m going 1-2 in a wind legal 11.69 and 11.97. Minor came back later to dominate the 200m in 23.97.

Madison Mooney of Broomfield left all comers in the dust in the 800m going 2:13.47 for the win. She led wire to wire going out aggressive, and when nobody dared go with her, she dropped the peloton behind her and crushed the field by 7 seconds.

Much like the boys, there were some great girls distance performances on display in the 1600 and 3200. Madi Kenyon from Roosevelt and Hannah Ellis from Frontier Academy fought it out in the 1600 with Kenyon eventually taking the win 5:16.63 to 5:17.57. In the 3200 things got aggressive pretty quickly with 5 girls at 11:20 or lower. Shae Henley from ThunderRidge won in 11:05.91 over Holly Bent from Monarch in 11:06.

Out in the field Rylee Anderson from Silver Creek, the current all classification leader in the high jump went 5-9, not her PR, but a dominant win nonetheless.

There were a few other big wins in the field as well. Mia Manson from Monarch followed continuing her family's dominance of the event went 12-8 for the win. Anna Hart from ThunderRidge triple jumped 36-2.75 feet and Katelin Gallegos from Air Academy won the discus by 11 feet with her 122-4 throw.
