5A: What Marks Made it to State?

5A has the deepest concentration of top athletes of any classification in Colorado. Nobody needs to be convinced of that. And in 5A, the biggest attrition before the state meet came at 200 and 400 meters. Several state qualifiers were scratched in each event, allowing those further down the list to move up into a state berth.

 

While scratches were common, the differences between top 18 times and state qualifying times were small. That would be a reflection of the depth of talent in 5A referred to above.
