Alex Blaho: Poudre to Colorado State University

Alex Blaho doesn't change his city of residence, but the blue and silver of Poudre will have to give way to the green and gold of CSU. Contributed photo.

What clinched the decision: I’ve lived in Fort Collins my whole life and love the city so staying close to home is certainly an added benefit. I had the opportunity to do football or track at CSU, but when I was on campus at CSU for a track visit there was a strong sense of community among the throwers that I wanted to be a part of. Also because I wanted to be a part of a team that I knew I could learn from and compete with every day in practice, and I thought that CSU offered that better than any other school. I look forward to being a part of the CSU throws crew, and I think that I will be a great addition to the team.

Favorite high school track event: Definitely shot put. I don’t mind the discus and I’m getting better at it, but I enjoy shot put more.

Your favorite high school athletic memory: I can’t pick one because there are two that stick out in my mind. The first being qualifying for state, and winning my first ever meet my sophomore year at rival Fort Collins High School. My second favorite memory is setting a new pr that broke the school record last year at the Front Range League Championships.
