GRAND JUNCTION – When Stocker Stadium hosts a meet, it is usually well attended from teams on the Western Slope. On Friday, that was not the case as most teams went to the Coal Ridge meet on Friday or the meet in Glenwood Springs on Saturday. The Warrior Wild West Invitational served as a all-city meet plus one —with the four Grand Junction schools: Central, Palisade, Fruita-Monument and Grand Junction High as well as Moffat County, from two-and-a-half hours northeast attending.
To add to the smaller attendance, most of Junction High’s top performers traveled to the Front Range for meets on Thursday and Friday. All of this was probably lost on the athletes, who came to compete regardless of the meet size and were treated to a slightly overcast day in the mid fifties with minimal wind.
