I don't know if this really is an exceptional freshman class in the long-term scheme of things or if it just seems that way. Regardless, there is a good number of freshmen who have stepped up and made a big impact early. Here's a quick review of many--probably even most--of the top performers from the class of 2016:

Sprints

Rangeview's Devante Wheaten and Rangeview's Javon Spencer are the only ones with a chance of making the state meet in sprint events, and those chances are remote. Sprints are not an easy world for 15-year-olds to break into against 18 and 19-year-olds. But, do watch these names in the years to come.

4A doesn't have the same waiting period as 5A. At least not this year. Longmont's Trevor Cook and Broomfield's Jordan Xiong are both in very nice position to qualify for the state meet as freshmen. They may not place this year, but just being...
