A Quiet Day on Colorado Track XC

In view of last night's passing of Reid Gates, a spectacularly gifted athlete at Cedaredge High School and a much-loved young man, this will be a quieter day on Colorado Track XC. Honestly, the usual urge to write something simply isn't there--my mind keeps drifting to Cedaredge and the heartache that community, and most especially Reid's parents and brother, is enduring at this time. If there's something I can post that doesn't take much writing, that might appear sometime today, but the desire to write is just simply gone today.

It may be that this site will publish a tribute piece to Reid Gates in the not-too-distant future, but today is not that day.

I am heartened by the news that Paonia High School has chosen to wear blue today in honor of Reid Gates. I have chosen to join them in that gesture.
