Jordyn Colter and her Bruin teammates ran like they had something to prove Thursday afternoon at Aurora Sports Park. They stormed out of the gates at the first meet of the season at Pre-State to exceed expectations, but with a very strong Monarch team and perennial powerhouse Fort Collins, Cherry Creek seems to have taken the underdog role when it comes to the rankings. To be an underdog and still be ranked 20th in the nation in the Saucony Elite polls tells the story of girls XC in Colorado.
The young Creek team does not seem to be content as the underdog, though, and used yesterday’s regional race as a message they are not to be taken lightly. Consider this: their seventh runner crossed the finish line in 12th place. They dominated the team scoring, finishing with 22 points.
