Prospects for getting this meet in didn't look all that promising on Thursday evening. Vista Ridge High School, where the Sand Creek Scorpion Invitational is now held, lay under a blanket of six to eight inches of snow. 

There was some melting in Friday's forecast, but the predicted clear skies gave way to high, thin clouds and the melting ground to a near standstill. Only a big effort by the combined staffs at Vista Ridge and Sand Creek got this meet underway. And, even at that, there were a few impressive piles of snow remaining on the infield of the track.
