Boulder County is regarded as one of the fittest places in the country. The county boundaries hold a vast wealth of current and former elite endurance athletes. It should come as no shock then that the Boulder County Championship is one of the most competitive track meets in the state. You know when you walk in to a stadium and are handed a program with the complete 38-year history of the meet, this is no ordinary weekend invitational.
 
Even with the four-letter word of prom looming on the horizon, this meet is an opportunity that cannot be passed. Most teams load up their roster and go for it.  Lyons coach Jeff Boele remarked “For us, this is the second most important meet of the season after state.”
