The last weekend of the invitational schedule brings some heavy-hitting meets to the table. With rankings on the line, every stride on the track is against the clock and every throw, put and jump against the tape. The Grand Junction Tiger Invitational may not have been as big as some of its Front Range rivals, but it turned in its fair share of season improvements and along with it some nice ranking improvements.
One of the biggest improvements came from the field on the ladies side. Prior to this day, Durango freshman Alli Davis had a high jump PR of 5-2--quite respectable for a youngster in the technical event. On a beautiful morning with scant wind, Davis apparently had some extra spring in her step and improved to 5-8, joining Poudre’s Carly Paul with the second highest jump in the state this season.
