Sangre de Cristo's drop into 1A next spring promises to shake things up a little in the 1A girls track and field ranks, but there will be some more familiar teams in the hunt as well--teams like Shining Mountain, Heritage Christian Academy, Plateau Valley, and Wiley. Once again, the key would appear to be showing well in individual events without completely unloading your relays. One thing the 1A types don't have to worry about, however, is prelims. So, it's much more realistic for a 1A athlete to extend to four events and expect top performances across all of those events that it is for an athlete from a larger school.
