15 miles up the road on Thursday, the Coronado Cougar Classic repeated many of its 2013 stories for its 2014 edition. Fountain-Fort Carson stole a page out of the Coronado book and repeated a few stories of its own.
There was the story of Ariana Toland holding the lead through much of the girls varsity race, but ending up second at the end. There was the story of a very strong Vanguard boys team repeated in 2014. And there was the story of Dylan Day winning his own home invitational reprised for 2014.
But, each of these stories had a new twist in 2014 as well.
For Ariana Toland, the new twist was a new uniform. Last year she finished second wearing Vanguard blue and gold. This year, Toland's second came in Fountain-Fort Carson red and blue. And first place was a teammate this time around, fellow Trojan Kalie Black at 21:07. The pair turned...
