This year may have been an unprecedented run of regional sweeps (though the trend bypassed the 3A classification). We'll note them as we go. And, maybe the sweeps were a good thing from an interest perspective, because there just weren't many surprises coming out of this year's regional contests.
This one gets us started on our sweep theme with Lyons taking both crowns. Admittedly, the girls crown was by only one point over Heritage Christian Academy, but a regional title is a regional title. The top three girls teams from this region (Lyons, HCA, and Shining Mountain) should be teams a considerable concern at State. We could very easily have three of the top five teams here.
Lyons, incidentally, is a much stronger girls team...
