Each year, Fossil Ridge creeps a little closer to the top of the pile in 5A. The Sabercats are now perennially one of the top teams, and at some point this is a team that's going to figure out how to come out on top of things.

Field events are an established strength of this team, so we'll start there.

Jacqueline Chen is the best thrower in the camp. While she did not advance to state in either the shot put or discus last spring, neither event is out of the question for this spring. Chen showed solid progress in the discus toward the end of last spring. If she can build on that this year, she could be among the 18 slinging discs off the north end of the track at Jeffco Stadium in May.

Isabel Ross and Kellee Willer are the top returning horizontal jumpers. Like Chen, they didn't jump at state last spring, but they, too, are far from ...
