Shortly after arriving at the Sand Creek Scorpion Invitational, I dug into my backpack for my last layer of warmth. Temperatures in the low 40s or below, the sun playing peekaboo with the clouds, and a steady breeze kept most folks struggling for ways to stay warm.
There were, however, exceptions. And most of the exceptions, it seemed, were wearing bright blue with yellow trim.
On the evening, Rampart could do little wrong. Adrian Brukner shanked a discus off a post of the cage, and the implement landed in fair territory. While that throw might otherwise have proven costly, Rampart still picked up the win in the boys disc when Dallas Lillie flung a disc 142-5. Brukner made his amends by taking the shot put at PR mark of 52-3.
For the record, Lillie's 142-5 was also a PR mark.
