It was a long time since the last seven-foot high jumper when Colt Sessions broke the ice at last year's Mullen meet.

For a while, it looked like it would be a good deal longer before we saw it again. Turns out it wouldn't be so long after all. With almost nothing in the way of fanfare or externally visible emotion, Pine Creek senior Dionne Taylor slipped over the bar at seven feet as if that was exactly what he was expected to do.

Taylor later made three attempts at 7-1. The first and third came very close. Taylor slipped on his approach on the second attempt, ending up on the pit, for a fouled attempt.

How good is 7-0? It parks Taylor in a tie for #7 in the national high jump rankings. For good measure, Taylor added a 21-11.5 winner in the long jump.
