Branden Huisman-Nevin appears to have had an abbreviated track season this spring, but will be counted on heavily nonetheless to help lift the fortunes of the cross country team this fall.

Were it not for so many other good 3A boys teams, it would be easy to think of this year as Gunnison's year. But, at least on the Western Slope, Gunnison looks to be the team to beat.

Gunnison - This team has been a long time coming together. This is the year to get it done. Five of the top six returning runners from last fall's team (a very good team, by the way) are now seniors. There are no more chances for this team. Cooper Wiens leads at a very nice clip, and his position at the front seems secure. Based on what we saw in track this spring, though, the order behind him could be shuffling considerably from last fall.
