The Battle Mountain Husky Invitational, nestled in the beauty of the Beaver Creek Ski Resort, presents extreme challenges for a cross country course, even by Colorado standards.

The trail ascends up, and then down, a mountain and places physical and mental demands on even the most seasoned runners.

And yet, the Durango Demons, the No. 2 ranked team, and arguably the early co-favorites with Palmer Ridge to claim the Class 4A state title, brought a boys team Saturday that is senior laden and, at times, dominant, as evidenced by their 25 point total in an easy win over runner-up Battle Mountain (95).
