Colorado Track XC Week 3 Coaches Polls

At least for the time being, Lamar and Jacob Rogers have firmly ensconced themselves atop the 3A rankings. Photo by Alan Versaw.

I'm trying a little different format this week on the coaches polls. I hoping to take up list space on the list of top articles by treating the rankings in this fashion.

In 5A, Mountain Vista retains a very secure grip on the top spot. Cherry Creek retains the top spot in 5A girls, but Broomfield is rapidly making believers of skeptics.

It was, not too long ago, impossible to imagine that Palmer Ridge wouldn't be ranked #1 in 4A boys. It's a little less impossible these days due to the rise of a very good Durango team, but it's going to take all the way to the end of the season to settle this. Air Academy ran a much-depleted roster on Saturday but still ended up atop the 4A girls.

Peak to Peak made a few believers over the weekend when they squared off against, and beat, Salida in a score-four format. This one is far from over, and it just got a whole lot more interesting. Lamar has donned the target in 3A boys and is wearing it well so far.

Heritage Christian's dumping of Telluride at Lyons on Saturday caused a few people to rethink the order of things in 2A girls. At home, at least, Lyons made a compelling case that they are currently the top team in 2A boys. Much consternation, however, exists over the ordering of the teams behind Lyons.
