#9 - Salida Regains 3A Crown
A year after possibly the most controversial moment in Colorado high school cross country state meet history, Salida returned to the start line with a mission on their mind--regaining the state crown.
Standing in their way, however, was a formidable obstacle--Peak to Peak. Redemption, if it came at all for Salida, would come only by way of turning aside a very good team. Any hopes of an unchallenged return to dominance had been dashed very early in the season.
Salida rose to the challenge and defeated Peak to Peak by a slender marging of six points, 50 to 56. And, it very much came down to fifth runner Bari Beasley. Half of Salida's margin of six points were earned by Beasley's effort.
