As we expected might happen, the floodgates opened a little on the performances at today's Martin Luther King Mile High Classic. Though probably a bit downsized in the overall count of competitors from what the meet has been in recent years, the MLK Mile High Classic still turned out some very nice marks.

The high school version of the meet was barely underway before Zoe Gilbertson and Alex Miller laid down a couple of strong hurdle efforts. Gilbertson stopped the clock at 8.72, knocking a couple of hundredths off of Gilbertson's season best mark. Miller ran 8.34 to take over the lead in the state rankings and establish a new personal best in the event.

Neither Gilbertson nor Miller were seriously threatened in their efforts. 

Meanwhile, Conor Bertles was working his way through the shot put competition. Bertles ended up with a winning mark of 49-4...
