The 2016 state snowshoe article has already run. In that article, I used a file photo of Ethan Pence as a cover image as I had no images from the actual race at the time.
As it turns out, though, Telluride parent Ramona Gaylord sent me a couple of pictures we can share with all of you here.
Ethan Pence and Jemil Kassahun get out to an early lead they would not relinquish.
As a side note, it turned out to be a pretty nice day of racing for 1) the Pence family, and 2) McKenna Ramsay. Father, mother, and son each claimed race titles for the Pence family. And, though McKenna Ramsay set aside the 5K, she ultimately torched nearly as many calories, winning the 200, 400, and 800 sprint races (none of the outcomes were even remotely close), in addition to taking a leg in the 1600 meter medley.
