The Windsor boys showed their depth by scoring in every event except the high jump and shot put on their way to scoring 164.5 points on Saturday.But the most exciting performances came from Golden sprinter Joe Morris.Morris won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, cruising to prequalifying performances in both races.Morris was clocked at 10.94 in the 100 and 21.89 in the 200.Berthoud high jumper Tye Duncan had a prequalifying jump of 6-3. The throws were dominated by FortMorgan’s Joe Hochanadel and Sterling’s Lee Meisner.Hochanadel won the shot put and was second in the discus, while Meisner won the discus and was second in the shot put.Greeley Central, despite starting spring break this week, won all three sprint relays and finished second with 134 points.
On the girls side, Fossil Ridge star, and CSU-bound, Liz Johnson won the shot put and discus.Johnson’s throw of 145-1.5 went farther than the current 4A state meet record.Mountain View’s Anna Avila finished second in the discus but still prequalified with a throw of 121-7.MountainView also picked up two wins from sophmore Amy Medina, winning both the triple jump and high jump.Windsor’s Rachel Weakland had a prequalifying jump of 5-2 and finished second in triple jump as well.Greeley Central won 4 out of 5 relays on the girls' side, leading them a first-place team performance, beating host Windsor by 11.5 points.
