Stack Wins Run Through Time Half Marathon

Evidently, Taylor Stack hears call other than the track in early spring. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.

If you were wondering about the whereabouts of Taylor Stack--and a couple of his Salida teammates--on opening weekend of track season, we have an explanation for you.

It seems Stack was excessively busy with winning Salida's Run Through Time Half Marathon to make the trip down to Pueblo to join in the Banana Belt Classic. In fact, Stack won the half marathon in a time of 1:31:28, better than four minutes ahead of second place.

Stack's teammate Seth Minor toppled coach Kenny Wilcox in the full marathon version of the race. Minor ran 3:32:31 for sixth, while Wilcox finished eighth in 3:40:52.

For the uninitiated, the Run Through Time Half Marathon is a trail marathon (jeep roads and single track), runs at elevations of 7000 feet and higher, and incorporates enough roll to keep a bakery in business for a month. At least a couple thousand feet of elevation gain works its way into the half marathon course.

So, now you know. But maybe you didn't want to?
