If you were wondering where some of Colorado's top athletes were who didn't show up in the Mullen entries, we found them. They're beachcombing in sunny southern California. Actually, they'll probably spend more time at the track than at the beach, but this trip is rarely all parts business for the athletes involved.
Toeing the line at the famed Arcadia Invitational (and, yes, they do move the athletes on and off the track at legendary speed) are the following Colorado athletes:
Air Academy - Luc Hagen, Matt McDonald
Fort Collins - Cameron Dimas, Joseph Krafsur, Thomas Robillard, Blake Salvador, Jasmine Chesson, Emma Dern, Audra Koopman, Becca Schulte
Horizon - Madison Mooney, Megan Mooney
Lyons - Paul Roberts, Joel Such
Monarch - Isaac Green, Holly Bent, Audrey Lookner
Mountain Vista - Ryan Currie, Carter Dillon, Caden Foster, Alex Fu, Robbie Gleeson, Michael O'Sullivan, Joshua Romine, Paxton Smith, Shayan Zarrin, Makenna Anderson, Julia Chambers, Allie Chipman, Madison Easton, Caroline Eck, Mauren Fitzsimmons, Mary McCullough, Becca Walton
Niwot - Alexis Carroll, Kela Fetters, Mackenzie Fidelak, Mary Gillett, Sophie Grant, Ashley Herring, Sarah Roberts
Palmer Ridge - Liam Cox, James Espinoza, Grayson Matalus, Garrett Obermeyer, Caleb Ojennes, Brandon Pappas, Kyle Rex, Bailey Rosenstrauch, Hannah Capek
Rocky Mountain - Bryan Hird, Kacey Doner
If there are any I missed, please just kindly send me a note via e-mail and I will update the list. Flaming me doesn't make me feel any worse about the oversight.
You will probably note a preponderance of distance athletes in the list above. There's a good reason for that. There's an advantage in going to sea level for distance runners that simply doesn't exist for other athletes. And, for sprinters, there's actually a small disadvantage in going to sea level.
Expect to see some big distance times out of this group tonight and through the day on Saturday.
